My dad’s one month trip to Taiwan has come to an end. I took him to the airport and while we were checking in at Cathay Pacific, the lady at the counter said all baggage will only be checked up to South Africa, as Cathay Pacific has no contract with Air Malawi. But, my dad’s final destination is Malawi. This means he would need to get his luggage from baggage claim in South Africa and check in again with his bags, rather than just going through transit. So if you happen to transit and switch to an African airline, you have to make sure both airlines have contracts with each other. Who knew airlines had to have baggage contracts?! You would think its common sense to send the baggage to the final destination!
